The Trusted Emergency Dentist in Portland

Looking for an emergency dentist in Portland? Our team at Breakwater Dental knows that tooth pain or a dental emergency can cause high anxiety and feel very overwhelming. We’re here to help! We strive to assist you as quickly as possible. We’re available to see you for a limited exam to address your urgent care. Contact our office for instructions.

We Welcome New Patients

We do our best to manage and treat dental pain the same day when possible, even for new patients. If we are unable to see you immediately, we will be sure to communicate an effective plan until you can visit the office in person.

Soft Tissue Injuries

Even a small trauma to the gums, lips, and tissue around the teeth can initiate a remarkable amount of bleeding. Apply pressure and a cold compress immediately and then contact our office for additional instructions.

Chipped or Broken Tooth

Chipping or breaking a tooth is a very upsetting experience. When this happens, collect as many pieces of the tooth as possible. You will need to bring these pieces with you to your appointment. At your visit, Dr. Shilo Annis will evaluate the tooth/teeth and will recommend possible treatments, including bonding, a crown, or veneer.

Dislodged Tooth

It is an urgent situation if a tooth has been knocked out and time is critical, but do not panic.  Thanks to many dental advancements, it may be possible to save the tooth.

Without washing the tooth, place it back into the socket if possible. Alternatively, place the tooth in milk while contacting our office for urgent treatment.  The tooth has the best chances of surviving if it can be placed and secured within an hour of injury.

As a last resort, visit your local Emergency Room for immediate care.  Follow up care will be provided by Dr. Shilo Annis and her team to ensure an optimal recovery.

Dental Pain & Infection

We highly recommend seeing immediate treatment if you experience dental pain or suspect that you have a tooth infection. An infected tooth can lead to severe complications if left untreated. Professional treatment can include antibiotics, root canal treatments, or an extraction as a last resort.
